I know it was supposed to be released in US theaters in August of 2007, but I haven't seen one preview for it! What went wrong?

Now to be released on February 1, 2008.

I think that the reason the release date was changed was because the distribution company was changed so they had to retool ad campaigns and stuff like that. FC acquired domestic theatrical rights last year at Toronto. It set release dates in April and then again in August before pulling the plug as part of its move to focus on its core business of smaller-budget indies. So Summit Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights to Penelope

IFC bought the film and planned to release it, but changed its mind at the last minute. It has now been purchased by Summit Entertainment, which plans to give it a wide release in Feb. 2008.

It's still coming out but the release date has been moved to "TBA 2008". It was supposed to come out on April 6, 2007 then it was moved to August 17th. Now TBA...

They postponed it again. Usually when a movie keeps getting postponed it means it stinks. This happened with Lucky You and Balls of Fury.
