I'm talking about the original black and blue poster for the film with the title running down the right side.

It has the alien on the front will a little bit of drool coming out of it's mouth. And then there is something in front of the mouth.

What is it that thing?? Is it the alien's tongue that shoots out of the mouth or is one of it's arms or a leg??

It's not very clear.

Dear Pat, I've pondered it and can't figure it out either. I don't think that's the original movie poster. I'm not 100% sure because it was 25 years ago when I saw "Aliens" in the theater, but I seem to think the poster and picture in the newspaper only had the word "Aliens" in big graphics and not a picture of one. I think they added it for the video and DVD box. Back then, most movies kept the creature a secret until you saw it in the movie. Especially that one. They wouldn't show the creature on the poster because it would ruin the surprise. That's just my gut feeling, but I have a big gut.
