I've been meaning to watch the series but I just don't know where to start from. Whats the difference between Star Trek and Star Wars? I wanna watch every movie of it by series. Could you give me the names of the movies in series so I could understand the plot of it well? Like from when Leonard Nemoy was the Spock to Zachary Quinto. Start to end I wanna watch it cuz I really wanna watch the movie. But I wanna watch it from the start. Thanks! :)

The difference between star wars and star trek are many.

1) Star Wars is fantasy, and less science fiction

2) Star Trek is more science fiction based on real theories, some even been proven to true.

3) Star Wars is about good verse evil while Star Trek is about mankind striving to become what we want to be.

4) Be Warned the new films are set in a parallel time line that runs parallel to the prime time line.

Star Wars and Star Trek are completely different.

Star Trek started out as a television series that was so popular because it incorporated a multi-ethnic cast, inter-racial romances, religion, politics and adventure. It was actually very impressive for the time (even for now).

This is the order for the Star Trek Franchise:

TV SERIES:

Star Trek (The Original Series)

Star Trek: The Animated Series

Star Trek: The Next Generation

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Star Trek: Voyager

Star Trek: Enterprise (a prequel series to the Original series)

MOVIES:

Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

Star Trek: Generations

Star Trek: First Contact

Star Trek: Insurrection

Star Trek: Nemesis

Star Trek (2009) (A prequel to all these)

Star Wars was released in the 80s and a smash hit due to it's low budget, dramatic storyline (read:soap opera) and unique special effects. It is also very entertaining. The order of the films goes as follows:

ORIGINAL TRILOGY:

1977: Episode IV: A New Hope

1980: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

1983: Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi

PREQUEL TRILOGY:

1999: Episode I: The Phantom Menace

2002: Episode II: Attack Of The Clones

2005: Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith

OTHER:

2008: Star Wars The Clone Wars (Animated Movie)

I reccommend watching these movies in the original order (I think the originals are way better). However, if you want it to be chronological... then start with the prequels and then watch the originals.

hope that helps!

Well Star Trek is pretty much an outerspace western that uses good old fashion cowboy diplomacy where the best diplomat is a fully charged phaser bank while exploring strange new worlds, while at the same time exploring ourselves in the process.

Star Wars is pretty much a medievalistic tale taking place in outerspace of heroic knights fighting a powerful tyrant.

As to Star Wars, it would be best to watch the original Star Wars from 1977 then continue along with the trilogy. And avoid the prequels since they killed the entire franchise.

Star Trek you can watch from the beginning with The Motion Picture, but it would be better to watch the Wrath of Khan and work your way up. Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness stand alone from the franchise while still being a part of it.

Star Wars and Star Trek are two entirely different series that have nothing to do with each other and were made by different people.

Star Wars is much grander in scope, and set far distant from us in terms of time and space, focusing on a large scale war in a distant galaxy.

Star Trek is smaller scale, concentrating on the voyages of one space ship, The Enterprise, operating from earth about 200 years from now.

The sequencing of both is somewhat disjointed but Star Wars is simpler. There are currently six films, numbered 1 to 6 in order of storyline chronology. 1 is called The Phantom Menace, 6 is called Return of the Jedi. As it happens numbers 4-6 were made first (in the 70s and 80s) but are set 20 years AFTER 1-3. Since the films were so popular a number of cartoons and books and podcasts have been made filling in other small parts of the story but concentrate on the films first as these give the main story.

Star Trek is more disjointed.

It started as a TV series in the 60s, then some films were made in the 70s and 80s featuring the same characters. The central figure was Captain Kirk. Eventually this crew was replaced by a new one, called "The Next Generation" under one Captain Picard. This lot had a number of films and TV series.

Next came a prequel (TV series only) called "Enterprise" which portrayed the Ship's earliest voyages under its first Captain (can't remember his name). This series was not popular.

Then recently there has been a series of new films going back to the story of Captain Kirk and his crew (including Spock) showing their earliest adventures as young trainees. Obviously a new cast portrayed the same characters (the original Kirk series had started when they were already in Middle age).

Finally there were a couple of spin-off TV shows, airing at the same time as The Next Generation, portraying the adventures of 2 other ships "Deep Space 9" and "Voyager"

In terms of storyline chronology, then, you are looking at:

Enterprise (TV Series)

Star Trek (the recent series of films)

Star Trek (the original 60s TV series)

Star Trek (the Films of the 70s and 80s)

The Next Generation (TV Series and Films) Voyager and Deep Space 9

I'm more of a Star Wars fan. But Star Trek is still nice, it has it's moments. Star Wars is a space opera and Star Trek is science fiction. Star Wars is more large scale with romances, polititics, war, and philosophy... and even then I think I'm forgetting something. Star Trek is more small scale but it involves history, philosophy, more science, and a few times even war; I have even seen some small romances in the background. In Star Wars you have the Sith trying to bring the galaxy in darkness, and the Jedi trying to maintain harmony. Sadly a lot of times the Sith win but the Jedi sometimes pull a win at the last possible minute and will temporary bring about peace and harmony. Throughout it all their is usually a deep romance between two people, and politics usually play a great deal in who's friend or foe. It's not uncommon for people to betray or back stab people in Star Wars. Star Trek on the other hand, from what I've seen, is more small scale but it puts a lot of emphasis on science and sometimes politics. Star Trek does not have the same level of romances that Star Wars but it does have it's flings between two people. Like even though it's never stated it's quite obvious the captain of the ship is banging the doctor behind closed doors. In Star Trek their usually exploring. Unlike in Star Wars where sadly the bad guys usually win, in Star Trek the good guys almost always pull of a win, usually at the last minute, and it's usually the engineer or doctor who remembers something or comes up with something to save the ship. Once the ship is saved they resume exploring, prompting another bad encounter to which they save the ship again. Most of the time their is no war in Star Trek but they do have their problems like political incidents, anomalies in space, engine problems... et cetera. If it's to difficult to choose you could try Mass Effect, it draws elements from both: it has romance, war, science and a lot more. And sense Mass Effect is relatively new it shouldn't be to hard to find everything for it, in fact I think the series started in 2007. Mass Effect right now is limited to three games, one animated movie, and a few magazines I think. But the 4th game is coming out next year and their already talking about the next movie being CGI. As for it being hard to tell the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek, that is not uncommon. Star Wars is a Space oper while Star Trek is science fiction. Space Opera is always half science while Science fiction is almost always in space so it's really difficult to see the difference. Well I hope my three cents helps.
