1. American History X

2. The Green Mile

3. Schindler's List

4. Requiem For a Dream

5. A.I.

Honarable mentions: Leon The Professional, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Braveheart, Gladiator

EDIT: Schindler's List is about a man named Oskar Schindler, who uses Jews to start a factory in Poland during the war. He witnesses the horrors endured by the Jews, and starts to save them. It contains one of the most infamous villains of all time, Amon Goeth. Be warned, it's a very dark and disturbing film and extremely hard to watch. BTW, it's made in 1993, but just looks like any modern film, and some parts are in black and white.

Okay, well my favorite sad movie is Schindler's List, which is from 1993. Also the Green Mile (1999), Steel Magnolias (1989)..and that's all I can think of off the top of my head...but whats with this "nothing before 2000" thing? There's tons and tons of great movies made before then!!

a million. Coraline (2009): it is so quirky, i like it! 2. Alice in Wonderland (1951): My formative years regular 3. Tangled (2010): A fairly crafted modern-day Disney action picture 4. The Hobbit: An unpredicted experience (2012): the 1st action picture instalment became spectacular and extremely precise to the e book 5. Les Miserables (2012): i've got enjoyed the musical my complete existence and the action picture became relatively spectacular! yet they do shuffle around lots, this is my present day checklist :)

One of my saddest films is a Hindi film called Devdas. It is kind of like Romeo and Juliet but a lot more sad. I do love that film, I'd be screwed without the subtitles though.

It was made in 2002 and although it might not seem worth watching believe me, it is a beautiful and sad story.

Here's the wikipedia but don't read the synopsis if you don't want because it contains spoliers.
