I'm from out of town--just moved here and am wondering, where's the best place for fans to stand tomorrow afternoon as the stars walk the red carpet for the Academy Awards? Also, any idea what intersections are good for parking near there? The Oscars start at 5pm I think, so should I get there around 2:30 or 3? Any good tips?

In the past, they let fans camp out for places on the red carpet, but now you need a (free) ticket to get a bleacher seat on the red carpet - and there is no place to stand and watch. You either have a ticket for the bleacher seats, or you are out of luck.

Those tickets are given away in September, via a free random drawing. They then do checks on the people who win the tickets to clear them for security.

They won't let you stand across the street, either. Police keep the crowd moving. The best you can hope for is a brief glimpse of all the action as you walk by the Kodak Theatre on the other side of the street.

Next year, enter the drawing for bleacher seat tickets.

I m in LA too for tourist reasons and unfortunately I think there are not much possibilities to watch/take photos to the stars, because I asked to an organizer (today) and he told me that they really wanted to avoid the fans.in facts, who knows!!! good luck!!
