The obvious is the charaters, Evan Baxter is played by Steve Carell in both Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty as is Morgan Freeman playing God in both films, there are also a number of minor cast members reprising similar roles.

The main connection between the movies are the characters. The subtle connection is the type of story the movies are telling. Although both boast biblical/religious themes, it is not so much a religious movie as it is a movie about choices.

Both Bruce and Evan are (in their respective movies) given tasks or abilities that place them in a position of responsiblity. They have to make sacrifices for the greater good. Then and only then to they reap their just reward. The ultimate reward is a happier life, better outlook on life and a closer family ties.

Well, the main connection is the character of Evan. He was a newscaster in Bruce Almighty that Bruce hated and was jealous of. Also, there's the character of God, played by Morgan Freeman.

I've wondered about this. Bruce Almighty defenatly cross the line. Evan Almighty not so much. I've seen Bruce Almightly several times and I usually feel uneasy when watching it. Evan Almighty was diffrent I actually felt comfertable watching it. The story seemed focoused on delivering a good message. Unlike Bruce who was basicaly pretending he was God himself. I also dont like the way they pretraded God as a human.

Along with Morgan Freeman playing God in both, Evan Baxter was a character in Bruce Almighty. Evan was a jerk who Bruce Nolan (played by Jim Carrey) got back at with his new God like powers. In this movie it is Evan who is visited by God who is once again played by Morgan Freeman.

I have seen both and think both are *cute* movies..... there is no disrespect in them...... they do not claim to be *the word*...... and they both have good messages in them..... Bruce thought he could take Gods' place and do a better job, as we all do daily, and found he could not even come close, as we find out the hard way daily...... and Even heard the voice of God and doubted, as we all do daily, and then found out it was the *real* deal, as some of us do daily, at times to late, at other times in the nick of time..... both movies took biblical aplications and teachings and put them in modern settings..... I thought they both brought out wonderful things that we all need to think about in todays world..... Would we KNOW Gods' voice if He spoke to us ??? Hmmmm .... not so sure here....... go in peace..... God bless
