Question:
Why did Thelma and Louise commit suicide?
?

I've just watched Thelma and Louise for the first time. I didn't think I'd enjoy it, but my crush on Geena Davis persuaded me to give it a watch.. And I really enjoyed it...apart from the ending.

Thelma and Louise had gotten through so many tough situations, and then they decided to just go ahead and drive off the Grand Canyon.. I mean they could have tried to escape, or they could have given themselves up and tried to explain exactly what happened.. But the choice they made was just plain stupid..

Why do you think they decided to kill themselves.

I believe that they did so because they were done. As you said they got through a lot of really tough things. But they had reached the point where they were done..... done running, fighting.. etc... Their story was out, people knew what & why they did what they did, they had each other & were basically at peace with everything. So all that was left was to die, the way they wanted.. when they wanted.. which was together.

I just watched the movie after visiting this area in Utah. The ending really bothers me too. These characters and the acting were so good it was just a shame the movie had to end. I think the acting by Susan Sarandon is one of the best female leads of the late 20th century. I guess there was just no good way to end it; the story had to end so the writers decided to make a statement. I think the whole movie is more or less meant to be a fable anyways. So yah, why not end it like Shawshank Redemption and have T&L on a beach in Mexico? Because as I mention they meant to make a statement. Just a great movie all the way around and one of the best of the last decade.

Because the movie industry is run by Jews who want all white people to commit suicide, so they figured out a way to glorify it.

Their time was up. There was no way out without them getting arrested. So they decided to drive off the cliff and go out on top.

I was told they had P.M.S and ran out of kotex pads While sitting on those leather seats they could not get out of the car do to their periods. So they had a bad stench that after awhile it made them go crazy. Plus they had ran out of jelly donuts for the cops to bribe them for freedom. Also Thelma had stepped in some dog crap leaving her boots stuck to the floorboard of the car making imposable to run barefoot from the law. I also heard they had parachutes in the trunk of the car as they forgot to wear them as they flew over the cliff. Story has it that they landed on the other side of the side of the cliff and were in mexico as they drove off and picked up a brad pit mexican man who just happened to have a bottle of tequila. They could not film a part 2 because they could not find a brad pit look alike who could speak English.
