Why are the Percy Jackson movies so unfaithful to the books? I understand if the director has to cut out some stuff in order to make it a more appealing movie for all audiences, but seriously - they cut out so much and not even the actors look or act like their characters. Seriously, that really annoys me because I absolutely adore Percy Jackson and they're ruining the movies - why are they doing this??

I think it's annoying too; at least the 2nd one was closer to the book than the first. I think it's because Rick Riordan doesn't really participate in the films (according to his website), so there's no one to advocate for being faithful to the book. With the Harry Potter series, for example, JK Rowling was actively involved in the production of the film; when changes were made it was Author-approved.

I wish Rick Riordan would assert his original works a little more, but at least it makes the movies a little more suspenseful. Maybe the movies will get progressively closer to the books? Regardless, I enjoy the movies and do hope they continue making them.

Obviously people go to see the movies and so money is made. I have never read the books nor seen the movies but I can say that many books made into movies are just not that good or at the very least, are not that faithful to the books

I hate that they are so different. they leave out so many things that its like they don't even have a connection. my friend and I were talking about beating the movie people. I said to beat them with percy Jackson books. she said to hook the books to numchuchs and beat them that way. But if I was going to beat some one with a book it would be harry potter book (not just good for reading). PS. big harry potter fan.

I've only watched for the first one and the thing which screamed out to me was that it was trying very hard to be like "Harry Potter". Now I don't know if that is how the books are but it put me right off as it just seemed a poor imitation.

When books are made into movies they can't add as much detail as the book because it would be too long.
