uhh.. its difficult to answer

1.First of all chroma key is needed for all kinds of VFX .suppose u have a scene, actress is running to get rid of an alien ship... so how will u shot it?

2. u will shot the actress in front of the green screen ....she id running in front of the green screen ....as a director u will tell her the scene. and u will also put something in the green screen for match moving and also impotent for which is background and which is foreground to inform the computer

3. for the alien ship u have to made a 3d model by soft-wares like autodesk maya and now its just a model .so to look like the ship real u have to put texture on that model ... now u will keying greenscreen and use matchmoving software....then u will have that seen

One movie that sticks out to me in particular is the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Dealing with such mass quantities of "CGI Extras" was rather astounding (they had to create a ground-breaking computer program just to deal with the individual character AI for the masses of armies). Coupled with the intricate detail work on the settings and characters (making it appear that the hobbits were a mere 3 1/2' tall compared to the taller characters for example) makes it one of the top Visual Effects Movies in my opinion. I would also throw the movie 300 in there as well based on its combination of the graphic novel/comic book art and live action cinematography.
