FedEx is a symbol of the "fast-paced" lifestyle he left behind (FedEx is known for speedy delivery). The package he returns home is symbollic of his call to duty and desire to get back to that life.

It could have been a better movie, though.

At the end of the movie you find him at a crossroad (literally and figuratively). He has to decide which road to choose. Will he follow the girl in the truck where there is an element of hope for something good (remember the package he left at her front door and the note he left saying this package saved my life?), or will he go down the other road and take his chances on the unknown?

Wilson, the ball.

It's a symbol that shows that human beings need companionship to be able to survive.

The volleyball is symbolic of his isolation, and desire for social contact.
