Funny movies depend on your sense of humour I guess but here are a few of my favourites from the last 50 years
Monty Python's The Holy Grail - Featuring the Knights who say 'Ni', Roger the Shrubber and Tim the Enchanter it's a spoof of the legend of King Arthur done Python style.
Airplane & Airplane II: The Sequel - If you don't like one gag, don't worry, here's another one. Gag after gag after gag.
Erik the Viking - Tim Robbins leads a hapless band of Vikings on a trip to the home of the Gods to bring an end to the wars among men. It's ridiculous from start to finish.
The Man who Knew Too Little - Bill Murray plays an American tourist in London who believes he is participating in a live-action theatre performance but is in fact involved in an assassination attempt on the president of Russia (my personal favourite)
Dogma - Two rogue angels (Damon & Affleck) attempt to re-enter heaven through a loop-hole in Catholic dogma and Jay, Silent Bob and a host of new friends must stop them.
Can't Hardly Wait - Teen graduation party comedy with lots of little story-lines, doesn't have as much toilet humour as American Pie but is hilarious all the same.
Tucker and Dale Versus Evil - Every cliché of the modern hill-billy massacre horror is undone in this brilliantly simple comedy.
Le Diner de Cons - Hollywood remade it as 'Dinner for Schmucks' but it lost a lot in translation. If you don't mind sub-titles this is one of the finest comedies ever made.
I really could just keep going but then this would become a novel and that's not helping anyone. Hope you watch some of these if you haven't seen them already and if these are no good try: Death to Smoochy, Bubble Boy, Saved, The Jerk, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Clue, Blazing Saddles, The Life of Brian, The Producers and White Chicks.
Enjoy :)
