1. can someone explain it briefly to me please, I don't understand it. when neo is running from smith in his office at the beginning of the film: is that reality or the matrix?

2. if the matrix is not real, why do they go in, what's the purpose of going into it, what are they trying to do?

3. In the film Morpheus explained something about machines enslaving humans- if I understood right he meant that the people in the matrix (like neo at the beginning) thought it was reality???

4. how do people get out of the matrix? and why do people think its reality? did it happen by Morpheus hooking neo up to loads of wires and him coming out of that slime stuff, then he gets plugged into a computer and goes into the matrix, is that right?

5. please answer my question: I'm really trying to like and understand the films, but its hard to understand it fully. thanks.

1. It is the Matrix.

2. Most people are born into it. The matrix is a virtual reality program to make us happy slaves while the machines use us as a source of power. Those like Morpheus who are free, re enter the matrix to find others he can free. There is also the idea that Morpheus is also looking for the prophesied one who will lead a rebellion against the machines and end the Matrix, freeing everyone.

3. Pretty much, see my second answer for details.

4. The only way The Matrix will let you go is if it thinks you are dead. What Morpheus did with the pill is fool the Matrix into thinking that Neo had died so that it would release him from where the machines had him imprisoned.

The Matrix is a movie that needs several viewings to get everything. For more, watch The Animatrix.

First of all the matrix is based on the idea that reality is just an illusion. The matrix is a reference to Chang Tsu that say the Matrix is the reality from which the illusion of the world is created.

So first of all the Matrix is the truth and the illusionary world is built on top of that. Like the create Taoist sages Neo is able to look through the illusion of the world and see the matrix, the code that builds the illusion allowing him to do great things.

1. The world of 1999 is the illusion.

2. They go into the matrix to find and free people in the matrix. They also interact with certain people in the matrix such as the oracle.

Also when they are in the matrix they are capable of doing cool kung fu, which is the whole point of the movie, lots of cool kung fu (the pitch for the movie was done by showing japanese animation movies to studio executives and telling them they want to do it with live action)

3. The machines use humans as a power source. They need to keep humans alive and to do that they must create an illusionary world for them to live in, what they call the matrix.

4. As Morpheus said "How do you know what is real?"". We think that the matrix is real because it is a clever simulation. We have no idea that we are living in the dream. Back to Chang Tsu, he once had a dream he was a butterfly and during the dream he completely forgot about the fact he was a man. When we woke he remembered the dream and wondered if he had dreamed that he was butterfly or was he a butterfly now dreaming that he was a man.

People get out of the matrix by being giving a computer virus that "the pill" that causes their connection to the matrix to have problems. This allows them to be traced, but also breaks the connection to the matrix and wakes them up. They don't get out of the matrix, they are out already, they are just unplugged.

There are several liberties in the story and some things that don't really make that much sense but look cool. But overall it is a philosophically based story where Neo is basically a person who goes from uber geek to superhero Buddha.

5. The Matrix (1999) is a really great movie. The whole series is complex, so do not be concerned if you have questions, and there can be various interpretations of what is really happening.

1. In the office, that is in the matrix. Whenever you see an agent, that is the Matrix.

2. the Matrix is real in a sense, it is a dream world control by the machines/programs, but real people do exist there. the freed people basically go in to the Matrix try to free people or to get some advantage with those that tend to control it or have knowledge of what is going on (the Oracle for example).

3. enslaving was rather that the humans were used to generate heat that was turned into energy for the machines to survive. they did control their thoughts too.

4. to get out of the Matrix, you either die or you escape. Morpheus and others, help people to escape the matrix by locating them and then disconnecting them.

1. He is in 'The Matrix'

2. The crew of the nebuchadnezzar are freedom fighters, scouring 'The Matrix' for agents and people who suspect that their world is not real. They also enter to interact with the Oracle and try to obtain info about the machine world.

3. The machines enslave humans as they need them as a power source - plugging them into 'The Matrix' they can harness the naturally occurring electricity in the body.

4. They take the red pills - which disrupts the brain waves that the machines monitor humans with. The humans think 'The Matrix' is reality because they know no different - life as it was back at the turn of the 21st century.

5. Believe me - first time i saw the matrix i hated it - couldn't understand thought it was silly - saw it again - blew my mind but didn't understand - saw again and again and now know a lot more.

1. Neo and Smith are in the Matrix. Neo was born (in vitro) in the machine world where he immediately became another "battery/power supply" for the machines. Do you remember the scene of all of the little pods holding infants and adults of all ages connected to cables.

2. The people inside of the Matrix never new about it - they think that it is reality in 1999. They were all born into the machine world via in vitro fertilization and are living a false "collective" dream, which is just a computer program designed to imitate 1990's earth life. It would be just like you or me one day finding out that our entire existence is only a dream and we are really just bodies in little pods. The people in the Matrix are all just living (what they think is) their day to day lives.

3. Yes, exactly.

4. Neo, and everyone else in the Matrix are all in those pod like things with the cables connected to their bodies - their bodies have never moved, never opened their eyes or never spoken a word in real life. To get Neo (and others) out of the Matrix, one of the computer hackers hacks into the Machine World, finds the person they are looking for (people in the Matrix who think that life isn't quite right), and then the hacker reprograms the machine computer to release the cables to that person's real body. When the cable is released, the person is flushed out of their pod (likely, the computer thinks that that person has died and is just trashing their body). The people on the ship, Nebakanezer would then use a hook on the ship to grab the person as they are flushed out, and they then pull them into the ship. The needles and wires all over Neo's body were to stimulate muscle growth so that he would have strength to walk and move. Neo is then living in the true, post-apocalyptic world.

Yes, once they aren't in the Matrix any longer, if they want to do anything in the Matrix, they then need to plug into the computer and get jacked into the Matrix.
