I have a new/unread signed first edition of The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. When should I sell it - before the movie comes out, or after, or wait longer than that...???? Also, although it is a 1st edition, it is a 16th or 17th printing :( so how much do you think I should ask for it? (signed 1st edition/1st printings seem to sell for $2,500 - $3000)

Thanks!

I have seen Several signed 17 printied versions go for about 300 to 400 dollars. You wont get anywhere near the amount you are thinking of. Hold onto it for a few more years and it will be worth a few hundred more.

also, you cant just try to sell it and say its signed. You need documentation. In order to get even a few hundred you need some sort of document saying its been signed by the author.

My great grandfather left me a signed copy of "To Kill a Mockingbird". It was one of the very first prints. I went to sell it thinking i would get several thousand. I was offered 50 dollars. I didn't have a document as proof. And if i had proof it would have only been worth 150 bucks.

Don't believe prices you see online. Most of the time they are not accurate and people are dissapojnted with what its really worth. Not trying to be rude in any way. I just don't want you to be dissapointed.

I don't know if now would be the best time to sell it. Wait a while for a big hype to come, then sell it. I don't think you'll get anywhere near the $2000 for it, since getting Suzanne's autograph isn't that difficult. But if it is a first edition maybe you'll get more since collectors want it. I would go from a range around $200-$400. But some fans might be willing to pay more.

Your copy will bring nowhere near the first edition/ first printing price. Take a look at that $2,500 price, is that the asking price the seller wants or what people are actually paying? I doubt there are many copies selling at that price.

What documentation do you have that she actually signed your copy? What condition is your copy in?

My guess is you will be lucky to get $100 for your copy.

Please read the book before you go!!! You will most likley be clueless most of the time during the movie and you wont know the feelings of what the characters are thinking unless youve read the book so please read it because it is sooooooooo good! i recommend you not read the second and third since their not that great anyways, so just read the first!!!!!!!! and for the selling........... i think you should sell it for at least 1,000-3,000 but most people will probably not buy it yet until a couple of years from now

If I were you, I would keep it for myself. But if you really want to sell it, then sell it before the movie comes out.
