How do they make hagrid look tall?

probably the same way the made the guy who played Sal in Indiana Jones look midget in Lord of the Rings, or Brandon Frasier suddendly a 8 foot tall basketball star.





Its about camera angles and platforms.



when they were doing Bedazzled, Brandon Frasier was never shot straight on. He was shot from angles. Most were of looking up at him. while everyone who was shown short were actually a ways behind him.



Also floors can be raised and lowered where they stand.



My guess is Hagrid was always on a raised platform or low-to high shots of him

They had a real giant man for the long distance shots, and just close ups of Robbie Coltrane when needed.

Set props - some sets/props were designed smaller than normal to make him look bigger and/or bigger to make other actors look smaller.
