Yup. If they are not able to find a distributor and so far they have not been able to

Nope, completely false. According to IMDb, it should be out on the 6th of June this year. What has changed is that Heath Ledger's part isn't the same as it was originally meant to be as he died before he could finish filming. Instead, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law all play the character of Tony as well as Heath (they're meant to be him inside the Imaginarium). It's coming out later than intended and different, but it's still coming out.

No, that's not true. It is still scheduled to be released in late 2009. The article I posted the link to came out yesterday, but it was just written to get readers since it had Heath Ledger's name in it. There is no way that Heath Ledger's last film, directed by Terry Gilliam, and also starring people like Johnny Depp is going to have any problem finding a US distributor.

On 22 January 2008, production of the film was disrupted following the death of Heath Ledger in New York City. Ledger's involvement had been a "key factor" in the film's financing.[4] Gilliam was presiding over concept art when he received the phonecall that told Ledger had died; his initial thought was "The film's over, it's as simple as that."[6] Although production was suspended indefinitely by January 24,[8] according to Christopher Plummer, who plays Doctor Parnassus, Gilliam, determined to "salvage" the film, initially considered using computer-generated imagery to make Heath Ledger's character magically change his appearance, perhaps into another character, in order to keep his final work in the film, and, if the film were made, would dedicate it to Ledger.[9] The imagery would be similar to transformation techniques seen on Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and those employed to Roy Scheider in his posthumous release Iron Cross.

Actors Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law were cast to replace Heath Ledger, portraying the new idea of transformed versions of Ledger's character traveling through a magical realm. With the role recast, filming resumed in Vancouver in March 2008.[10] Depp was a friend of Gilliam who starred in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and the aborted The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, and had been compared to Ledger by cinematographer Nicola Pecorini. Law was a friend of Ledger and had been considered for the role of Tony, while Farrell was friends with Ledger.[6] Depp, Farrell, and Law opted to redirect their wages for the role to Ledger's young daughter, Matilda, who had been left out of an old version of Ledger's will,[11] and Gilliam altered the part of the credits saying "A Terry Gilliam film" to "A film from Heath Ledger and friends."[6]

It relies upon on how lots has been filmed. If it grew to become into close to of completion and there's a thank you to edit it to make an entire action picture then this might take place. "great" is a sturdy occasion of this because of the fact James Dean died till now the action picture grew to become into complete. They replaced the story and edited the present artwork to make a action picture. If there are a thank you to apply CGI or doubles (in a non-Plan-9 way of course) to end intense scenes then possibly. it particularly is a exceedingly reliable thank you to harm a action picture nonetheless. It worked in "Gladiator" for changing Oliver Reed's character. besides the shown fact that, maximum of his scenes have been accomplished and people who they had to pretend have been exceedingly short. no remember if it extremely is in many circumstances complete yet to no longer a component to the place it extremely is complete with out Heath Ledger then it could on no account be complete. Terry Gilliam in no way complete the action picture "the guy Who Killed Don Quixote" using its celeb falling ill. The action picture "the sport of loss of life" grew to become into in no way complete while Bruce Lee died. no remember if it extremely is early in filming and changing Heath Ledger with somebody else can take place then possibly the action picture would be made yet no longer with Heath Ledger.

I hear they are having trouble finding a distributor. I think it will come out though since Ledger's Oscar win gives the movie a little more prestige. Hollywood is all about the money and it being his last movie is a big draw.

The story is that a company has purchased the rights to the film but they are having trouble finding a distributor. I guess the movie is too weird for mainstream tastes. I'm sure it will eventually be released, but it may not be a wide release.

Thanks for the thumbs down! I love Terry Gilliam, btw, but mainstream theater-goers do not. And that's the truth.
