i dont get why in paris she picked that girl with the black hir as the new editor instead of nigel

Meryl Streep's character Miranda finds out that her position as editor in chief for Runway will be replaced by Jacqueline (black hair). So Miranda deals with designer James Holt to let Jacqueline be the new creative director for his label instead of Nigel. If Jacqueline can be the creative director for James Holt then she wouldn't take Miranda's job. So in all, Miranda had to sacrifice Nigel to keep her position.
