I just watched it twice in the past week. I loved it. Out of curiosity, I have a few questions...

1. What's up with the constant switching between the two names, Beetlejuice and Betelgeuse?
2. How old was Lydia in the movie?
3. In the scene where Lydia sees the Maitlands covered in sheets, was she actually going to bed? Is that what she wears to sleep?
4. In the scene where the Deetz' are having their first meal in the house, how does Lydia eat with that black thingy covering her face?
5. Most of the time Lydia had really tall hair. It wasn't her real hair, was it? Was it some kind of hat or wig or what?
6. How were the Deetz' and Otho able to see the Handbook for the Recently Deceased, if they were living and not strange or unusual? If the Handbook WAS a 'real' book then how did it get there in the first place?
7. At the last bit when Lydia gets an A for her math test and the music comes on, she starts floating up in the air? How could she do that?
8. What happened to Beetlejuice in the end? Like, how he got to that make-an-appointment room thing.
9. And, umm. Does anyone know if there are websites with pictures taken during the filming of the movie? Or behind-the-scenes stuff?

Yep, that's about it (i think). I might have more to add later. You don't have to answer all the questions if you can't, but if you can that'd be awesome :)
Thanks!

Beetlejuice is one of my all-time favorite films. I'll try to answer a few of your questions.

1. Well (I may be wrong) but I believe the reason there is switching of the names is because of the audience. In the film, we usually saw the name "betelgeuse" on Beetlejuice's tombstone which few people might care to look at. But, the catchy title is part of what makes a good film, so I'm betting that the film-makers wanted to make the title easier to read and pronounce, and thus the title of the film was changed to Beetlejuice -- a combination of the words "beetle" and "juice", two words that we know and can help us easily pronounce (instead of "betel" and "geuse" which we might stumble over).

2. I'm not sure how old she was. I would guess about 13-15 years old.

3. She was laying down in her room trying to sleep when she came out to see the Maitlands cover in sheets. It is possible that A) yeah, thats what she wanted to sleep in or that B) she hadn't changed for bed yet.

4. I don't think she was really eating much -- just picking at her food.

6. Well the both the Deetz family and Otho were very strange people indeed -- I guess the Handbook was indeed a real book...the problem was the the Maitlands didn't keep it near them, they left it out where anyone might find it.

7. According to the film, (because they were dead) the Maitlands had powers that enabled them to defy several natural laws (notice when Adam was able to rip his head off and put it back on....and when they controlled the Deetz's dinner party and made them dance and sing). This is how they were able to "reward" Lydia for getting a A by letting her float and dance.

8. He got eaten by a sand worm...other than that, I'm not sure.

9. IMDB is a great source. Here is the link for the movie:

I have no idea.

All I know is that Beetlejuice and The Joker from The Dark Knight are some how related!

Both good films though.

5 - If we're talking about the actress, of course it was a wig. Winona Ryder had a very short hair then.

In the movie, we're not sure. I'd say that the director want us to believe that it's her real hair. Who know that, right???

6 - This question was not properly answered there I guess.

The book is real but it's a manual to deceased people, not for living and it appears somehow to the ppl that dies, but that shouldnt be able to be seen by the living. It does not belong to the world but to the neitherworld. So, I think it's a real movie mistake.

Otho is not as weird as Lydia, but knows a little about paranormal things. Anyways, that book can be seen by anybody. That's where the real mistake is, in my opinion.

9 - Yes, there are a couple of pics taken behind the scenes that are really funny. This question is so old, but anyways if you want them, I could look for them for you.
