Question:
Is there a list anywhere that tells when a new release at Blockbuster goes to the older movie section?

I have a Blockbuster special program where I can rent a new release movie and get an old one free. Well, I am out of old non-new release movies to rent. I have seen everything. I have no problem finding new releases to rent, it's the older ones that I can never pick out. But there are some new rel. that I would consider renting if they went on the older movie shelves...

Is there anywhere online that shows weekly which new release movies are now going to the non-new release section of the video store that week?

Thanks in advance. Im a big movie fanatic...

As a Blockbuster store manager, I can tell you there is no way for the customer to track what new releases are going into the older section at any given time because it is up to the discretion of the manager when to pull items from the new release wall in order to make room for more new releases. However, the general rule of thumb we use is - once a title reaches a year old, we pull it from the new release wall. So, maybe you can check online at imdb.com for titles that came out a year ago (for rent) to date to get a general idea.

I used to work at a Blockbuster franchise. For our store, the guidelines were the movie had to stay on the New Release wall for a minimum of six months. After that, a title would be moved to the older section as space was needed on the wall. The best thing to do is ask a manager what the New Release guidelines are. They can give you the minimum amount of time the title needs to stay on the wall. By looking at the titles coming out, you can gauge where they will need to make room, and titles in that area will be the most likely to move. Also, if a title isn't renting well, it doesn't make sense to take up space that could be occupied by new titles. Hope this helps.

Hmm, I used to work there too, but in my store the New Releases moved off the wall after one year. They don't really have a schedule though of what moves when. Watch Poolhall Junkies though, in the drama section. Great movie.
