I like Feyd in both though Matt Keslar was actually hotter, but Sting's costume was way better. The Baron was memorable in the movie but he was too crazy for my taste. The Baron in the books was not crazy, he was a psychopath. Therefore, The Baron in the mini-series was more true to form. The Harkonnen costumes in the original were much better. The Jessica in the original was a more sophisticated version. But the one in the mini-series was prettier and actually looked like she could be the Baron's daughter. I definitely liked the 1984 version of Paul better. The mini-series did have more of a story to it. And Brad Douriff IS Piter de Vries in my opinion.

agree 100% about the problems with the baron in the movie. but i couldnt make it through the miniseries. the costumes were just too distracting, and the miniseries paul acted like a spoiled brat. at least in the beginning. that was not at all how i pictured paul.

im one of the few people who actually enjoyed te movie, despite the baron. the supporting cast was great

however the miniseries children of dune was actually pretty good.

I never saw the mini series but I saw that movie one time and man did I hate it.

Maybe. Hell I might like the movie better if I saw it again. I only saw it one time in a theater when it actually came out, that was like 29 years ago or something.

But yeah the way they portrayed the baron for example was just completely terrible, I thought. And I didn't think they had anything like the special effects it would really take to do things like ornithopters for example. And all the scenes and dramatic acting just looked forced and awkward and horrible. I hated it. I guess I should see it again just to make sure.

The mini-series.

I personally consider David Lynch's "Dune" to be the worst movie ever made (if one is to boundary his nominations to movies that had big budgets and huge expectations) -- the movie is a real mess, an unintelligible, ugly, unstructured, pointless excursion into a SCI-FI failure.

Hollywood keeps remaking classics, when they should be approaching movies that had potential to be great but failed, like "Dune", "War and Peace" and "Caligula".

The Dune miniseries was done much better.

It was also much closer to the original Novels.
