Yes, you can't install the codec in a dvd player, you just need to use a right software to convert and burn your downloaded movies to a standard video DVD that can be played well in dvd player, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can directly convert any downloaded movies to standard video DVD and burn to any dvd disc(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc.), such as convert and burn avi movie files to standard video DVD, easy to use, insert a dvd disc into the dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator, directly drag and drop the downloaded avi movie files into the software, then press "START" button, you will get a standard video DVD from your avi movies, and the burned standard video DVD can be played well in dvd player. You can yahoo or google search RZ DVD Creator and download it, easy to use, hope it can help you.

Most of .avi files won't play with dvd player.

Use vlc media player, which is best with all available codecs and easy to use.

You can use a program called ConvertXtoDVD. It will convert AVI files and burn them to a DVD.
