Watched this episode today. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0902102/

Tony says this:
Jeanne: This is like a scene from an old movie... wait a second... is this a scene from an old movie?
Tony: Ah... well that really depends.
Jeanne: On?
Tony: Have you ever seen the movie called Strangers in the Night with Cary Grant?
Jeanne: I don't think so.
Tony: Then no, this is a completely original idea that I came up with all by myself!

He sort of sets up a sidewalk dinner with stuff he takes out of his car (table, chairs, flowers, food).

I'm guessing this was made up, because I can't find this film? Any ideas?

You are right, Cary Grant never appeared in a movie by that name. Though there are films titled that.

Odd though, because that scene does ring a bell with me and it sure seems like one they would have (the ever so debonair) Grant do.

Probably Clerks...there's so much dialogue in that movie you almost hear something new every time you watch it.
