What are some good older 'horror' movies?

I mean old from like the 70s to the 90s. Not too old, preferably color movies.
I've just become kind of interested in them haha, I like The Hand that Rocked the Cradle, Carrie, and Hellraiser. I'm just not into any current horror, they don't have very interesting plots. Any suggestions?

Haha I get where you are coming from, and I'm going to state the ones that I personally like, although some are black and white (ill put a star if they are)

The Exorcist

The Wicker Man

The Shining

Psycho*

The Bad Seed*

Don't Look Now

Childs Play (kinda stupid, but creepy still)

The Twilight Zone: the definitive series*

The Amityville Horror (original)

All I can say is be careful when watching those movies. Keep your wits about you. Do * not * act out those horror scenes and maintain your self control and stay within the confines of the law at all times.Sometimes too much exposure to violent movies can desensitise the brain to violence and you lose your natural shock and repulsion reflexes to such violent scenes .

That being said,I might suggest Fright Night and Return of the Living Dead. Event Horizon is a really disturbing movie ,really interesting but something that has a really horrible scene I could not get out of my head ,a man gouging out his own eyes with his thumbs- and he could still see. In the real world ,he would be permanently blind and couldn't move around like stumbling around in the dark .Some people just watch these movies and can't distinguish reality from fantasy .

Basically with horror films you have to know what sub genre you like, Supernatural films i would say Rosemary's Baby, Exorcist, and the shinning. Slasher films i would have to say, A nightmare on elm st 1-7, Friday the 13 1-11, Candyman and My Bloody Valintine not the new one the older one, also Night of the Demons is really good, other good jems are Tales From the hood, Bad Taste, Texas Chainsaw, Dark Half, Braindead and also Necornoicon and any full moon movie

The Vanishing (1988) - Horror/Suspense - One of the best films ever made. Maybe more suspense than horror.

The Shining - Jack Nicholson is amazing.

Exorcist - Creepy.

Who Can Kill A Child - Super corny but amazing scary child movie.

Suspiria - Great art house horror film.

The Exorcist, all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, Scream. Most of the good ones are from the 90's in my opinion, but The Exorcist was filmed in 1973 and it's still one of the scariest I've ever seen.

I think that "The Gift" starring Cate Blanchett is pretty good. It's kind of like a Thriller, rather than Horror though. And I think it was made in 2000. But it's still good!

Psycho is a great classic. It's black and white, but who cares?
