Im both the movie and book [Fried Green Tomatoes "At Whistlestop Cafe"] you are kept wondering how Ninny Threadgoode knows so many things about Ruth & Idgies relationship. Ninny clearly states that she was married to Idgies brother, Cleo, but how is this so? In the movie they dont eve try to convience you that this is a diffrent person, but in the book Ninny goes into more detail about how she knows so much.

I think the author made it this way to keep you guessing. At the end of the Movide Evelen finds a jar of honey on Ruths grave and a note from Idgie, the bee charmer, and she asks how it got there.

My personal opinion is that Ninny was actually Idgie. Why she lied about it is a whole other disccusion though. Maby she was afraid Evelen wouldnt like Idgie, or maby she had alzthimers or something wrong with her.

I dont think theres a definete awnser but whats your thoughts on this?

yea I always thought Ninny was Idgie. I mean she knew intimate conversations between Idgie and Ruth, and that Sipsy had killed Frank Bennett. She claimed she married into the family when she married Idgie's brother Cleo. But I think she really was Idgie.

In the book they were two different people. Ninny married Cleo and they had a son, Albert. The book goes into detail. Also, Idgie and Ruth were lesbians in the book and Idgie also had a relationship with the female hooker at the bar in the book. Idgie supposedly died in the movie but she was alive at the end of the book. Ninny had gone back home (in the book) and died at her home. In the movie her house was condemned and she was going to live with Evelyn. Lots of differences in the book and movie. I own both. Loved the movie, however, the book is better.

Nope. In the movie Ninny says first off that she was 'practically adopted by the Threadgoods', she married one of Idgie's brothers. Also, the book makes it clear that they are two different people.
