for example like Dracula, Frankenstein, Psycho.
Movies that was so old that it was still filmed in black and white.
I'll take colored if it's really good :)

What was that one old movie, where a girl lifted up the window curtain, and there was a huge cat outside the window?
THANKYOU!!

I'm currently in love with old, horror, black and white movies!

I love those movies.

I'd recommend:

Dr, Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (1931)

Best movie version of this story

Bride of Frankenstein

The ambitious sequel to Frankenstein still gets high praise. a must-see.

The Old Dark House (be sure it's a good print)

The first film James Whale and Boris Karloff made after Frankenstein. Features the best cast ever for a horror film.

The Invisible Man

Another great James Whale movie. Made Claude Raines a star.

King Kong (1933)

First and best giant monster movie.

The Raven

Lugosi is a mad genius obsessed with both Edgar Allen Poe and a beautiful young woman. Karloff is his unwilling henchmen.

The Devil Commands

Karloff plays a scientist obsessed with communicating wit the dead. Relly far out for its time.

Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman

Starts as a great horror movie, ends as fun one. Without it, Jason would never have met Freddy Kruger, and the Alien would never have met the Predator.

Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein

A great horror-comedy, mostly because the monsters are so authentic.

Creature From the Black Lagoon

Great '50s monster flick.

Silent movies (Be sure it's a good print)

Nosferatu

Metropolis

Der Golem

Phantom of the Opera

As for that movie with the window curtain and the cat, the only 50s movie I can think of that was like that was The Incredible Shrinking Man, when a giant cat appears at the door of the dollhouse the title character inhabits.

Also, little people (including a woman) are menaced by a cat in Dr. Cyclops. Or maybe you're thinking of the pilot episode to the TV show Land of the Giants.

The Wolfman was made about the same time as the original Universal Studios Dracula and Frankenstein. I think it is the most mature of them all. There were also The Mummy and the Invisible Man but I did not like them as much. There were also a number of sequels for Drac and frank, but they tended to be pale imitations except for Bride of Frankenstein which is even better than the original.

Hammer films made a number of films from the sixties onwards which were mostly remakes of the Universal ones, and not as good. However, they also made a Village of the Damned and Children of the Damned series which was original and creepy.

Any old horror with Vincent Price:

House on Haunted Hill, The Masque of Red Death etc....

House on Haunted Hill is public domain, so can be legally downloaded for free from here http://www.archive.org/details/House_On_Haunted_Hill.avi

Oh, I think the cat scene happens in The Amityville Horror (1979 version), but maybe you're thinking of something else (the cat in that isn't huge, it's just a regular cat....)

Wolfman is by far the best old horror movie made.

House of Wax. Not the remake.

House on Haunted Hill.

White Zombie.

Basically any movie with Bela Lugosi in it. The king of horror movies.

Masters of Mayhem is a great compilation of old horrors.

The Ghoul.

Black Cat.

Raven.

The Invisibel Ray.

straw dogs with dustin hoffman was made in the 70's and thats pretty scary. its actually more disturbing, but if you like horror films you'll like straw dogs. i normally love horror films but even this one went a little too far for my liking - theres a very famous scene that was judged as controversial in the 70's when the film was released, you'll know what one it is if you chose to watch straw dogs. theyre remaking it in 2011 (or 2012 i cant remember) with james marsden as the main character so i can only imagine with todays love for horror it will be even worse than the 70's version.

the original is in black and white.

Nosferatu (this is older than oldschool, i love it) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0013442/

Yeah I can't think of the movie with a huge cat, but I remember from the 1979 Amityville Horror.
