ive been looking that for movies it takes a lot of money to make..a couple million dollars(budget)..and i just wanted to know wht if the movie is made and it took them 125 million dollars to make it but..they only made about 15 million dollars in the box office total. What happens then. Since they didnt make enough for the movie, plus they have to pay the actors, writers, producters...etc....iam kinda new to learning this so i wanted to know..and i also wanted to know..how do the directors and producers..etc negotiate on how much will the place be worth too shoot...meaning...if the director wanted to shoot at an apartment and they had to pay 30,000 to shoot,,,how can the director do that...does the director pay for the apartment after he makes money for the movie or right away...i know its kinda hard to understand my question but its hard to explain...thank you

Well first off, the actors get paid no matter if the movie makes 100 million or 1 dollar. If its an independent film, the people that take the big hit in the wallet are the producers. They shell out all the money to "produce" the movie and pay the actors, and in turn then rake in alot of the riches if the movie is a success. Director takes a big hit also if it fails, but its the producers that really suffer.

Now if the movie is made from a big company (Universal, Paramount) then they are taking the hit. Because virtually they are paying for everything it takes to make the movie possible .

The movie company, like New Line Cinema or Fox, has a lot of money and a lot of investors and they put up the cash to make the movie and reap the box office rewards (or problems) afterwards. They basically pay for everything up front, so if the movie tanks, it's still a loss, but they're not so much in debt.

I know that they still have to pay the actors and everything even if they don't make as much as it cost., but I really don't know about the other stuff.
