The matrix first movie help?

Why was it possible to hit somebody in the matrix if they can defy physics? Both neo and the agent can so why couldn't morpheus do so when the traitor led them to the trap?

How did neo oven get involved? How did he know about the matrix to get the agents after him?

Finally, If they had neo in the matrix whe he first contacted the resistance then couldn't they have killed him immedietely or were they just going to use him to find the resistance prbing him and making it look like a dream?

Well the way I understand it, the others could only go so far because, mentally, they couldn't get too far beyond the reality of the virtual world. It was too real for them, while Neo was supposed to be "special" because he could see it for what it was. The agent was a program in the system, so that goes without saying.



Neo got involved because he was a very talented hacker in the virtual world who was beginning to tread in dangerous waters. He was naturally drawn to the truth, and was really beginning to question things. This is why the rebels along with the Matrix were drawn to him. And he was ultimately drawn towards the resistance because he had an instinctual and "prophetic" need to be a part of it.



And I think the Matrix was either not fully sure of him yet or, like you said, wanted things to pan out a certain way so was biding its time. Could have been using him as bait to lure in the rebels or to find out what their plans were. I don't remember much about the film, been a while.



FYI, the film was actually based on some writer's short story that was plagiarized, so you might be able to get a copy of this story for more answers because the 2nd and 3rd film had to be changed as a result of the lawsuit.

They can't just defy physics, it's extremely hard to do (defy physics) in the matrix, and when you do it, it's not like you can go invisible or something, it's just a physical boost.



Morpheus was trying to find people who might be the "one", he thought Neo might be him, the agents new this so they tried to go after him as well, morpheus and the agents are at war, of course they'll keep tabs on each others actions.



The agents didn't want to just get rid of him, they planted a bug in him to see what morpheus was planning with the guy, also the agents think they were immortal so they didn't care to rush things.

In the matrix, defying physics is an analogy to defy the current established norms. For example if you refuse to borrow at INTEREST to live your life, it will be super human in our world.
