Am I the only one who thinks directors need to STOP recreating movies?

I'm sorry, but recreating old movies/shows needs to stop! Knight M. Shalaman (or whatever his name is!) did Avatar the Last Airbender which WAS a really good show! And now, we got Cowboy Bebop (GREAT anime), Ghost in Shell (to be determined), Tom and Jerry (Classic Cartoon) and worst of all.....FOOTLOOSE! Crappy new dancers and crappy new music! Am I the only person outraged about this?! I forgot to mention Mr. Poppers Penguins and The Smurfs.

I agree that creativity in the film industry seems to be at an all-time low. I am also fed-up with remakes, yet I must admit that there are some remakes that's better than the original. I don't agree with all those people who automatically diss a remake the moment they just hear about it. Nothing wrong really with retelling an old story in a new and modern setting. Yet, the creators should be more choosy and careful with what they remake and how they do it.

They could rather make adaptations from books, of which there are still millions unadapted. And most of the best movies are ones made from books.

The 3-D fad is really irritating for me too. And "BlondeGirl", 3-D is OLD technology, not new!

I can't find the direct quote, but Leo McCarey once said something to the effect of 'Hollywood shouldn't remake good movies, they should remake BAD movies'. A great movie has already been done right. Why not find a film that had a good idea behind it, but didn't come out right and re-make that!

I'm sorry to say that it won't stop. Hollywood has been remaking films since the early days, and it's so much easier than being original!

Marley & Me- The Puppy Years. The director must not have watched the movie/read the book. Pretty sure "the puppy years" were covered in the original! I also hate sequel after sequel but wait! There's a spin off with 20 more sequels! The 3D fad also p*sses me off. The Lion King was amazing to begin with. The special edition with the new song was acceptable. But 3D? No! It just goes to show you there's no more originality in the art xD

I agree. all the writers have dried up and have no creativity any more. We remake this and revamp that. Hawaii Five-o, Charlies angels are also remakes of days gone by.Or maybe I'm getting old and seeing the things I loved in my younger years being redone reminds me of that.

I totally agree with you. Re-makes always suck!

I heard that now, they are going to re-make the Flintstones.
