Good movies on Vietnam:

Platoon- Experience of the common soldier

Full Metal Jacket- Training and Battle of Hue

Born on the Fourth of July- Treatment of injured Vietnam soldier

Good movies on WWII:

Band of Brothers- Best depiction ever made. Training, Normandy, Operation Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge, Liberation of a camp, German Surrender

Saving Private Ryan- Second best. Normandy and battles in France

Downfall- Hitler's final days in his bunker and the Battle of Berlin.

Hambuger Hill and We Were Soliders for Vietnam. Both are based on actual events and battles, but We Were Soliders is more historically acurate. There is an old documentary series called Vietnam: The Ten Thousand Day War that is very informative. For WWII probably one of the most acurate movies is A Bridge Too Far. It's a bit of an older movie, circa 1960 I think, but excellent. Band of Brothers is also an excellent source and has some overlap with Bridge. If you could narrow you question to a time period or event, I may be able to help futher. Good luck

The Thin Red Line (Vietnam) and Letters from Iwo Jima (WWII)

I recommend these because The Thin Red Line has a storyline about a deserter and Letters because it's the Japanese viewpoint.

Research is NOT watching movies. Go to the library and try this new thing they have there called BOOKS.... you can take them home and it doesn't cost anything but you have to bring them back when youre finished with them.
