I thought it was melodramatic and overrated. The torture scenes lost any impact they may have had by going too far and being too gratuitous. I never knew Jesus invented the dining table and chairs.

I'm not a Christian but if you want to see a movie about Christ that will blow you away I suggest you seem out a copy of Pier Paolo Pasolini's 'Gospel According to Saint Matthew'. It is an awe inspring piece of cinema. An almost entirely unprofessional cast, visually stunning ... wow. Interestingly enough it is regarded by many (including many leaders of the Christian faith) to be THE 'Christ' movie. And considering that Pasolini was an athiest, communist, homosexual I find that hilarious.

I also think that 'The Last Temptation of Christ' is a better portrayal of Christ that 'The Passion of ...' because Jesus is more .... human.

No. So many Christians have a hard time separating artistic merit from message. The Passion is not good in an artistic sense, as a vehicle for a story.

The violence was so exaggerated that it became almost parody. Mel Gibson has a long career of ultra-violent movies, so it's no surprise that when he could have handled his story any way, he went with all he knows. It's funny that although violence is the showcase of the film, Gibson doesn't really have a good grasp of how to use it effectively. Scenes of violence and horror have the most emotional impact when they're used sparingly (like in Saving Private Ryan or Schindler's List). Forcing the viewer to watch non-stop brutality only numbs them to the horror.

The movie is something to be endured, not good art that you'd want to watch again and again. Gibson could have taken a page from the actual gospels and showed us a little more of the Jesus we would admire, so we'd be emotionally engaged with the character before watching him be destroyed.

I think the movie was so HORIBBLE and it WAS not about Jesus. Who ever made the movie did a bad job too. The movie was supposed to be about Jesus and his followers, yet you only see WHITE people in yet. There wasnt just white people around when Jesus was alive. I watched less than 10 minutes of this movie than turned it off. Its a shame too that the movie is about Jesus. What a shame because it didnt portray REAL people of different colors. What a shame may i add again.

It is definitely the best religious movie I've seen and arguably the best movie I have seen...Very powerful. Good music, great cinematography, realistic acting, wonderful story, of course...Also, it is in Aramaic, which makes it even more powerful and realisitc. Really good. I would recommend it to anyone who could take the gore. It's really bloody, but that's how it was. Kudos to Mel Gibson for using millions of his own money to make this great film.

I thought it was horrible and overrated. It was poorly directed and poorly written. To much hype over that movie...too many gullible people.
