IMHO:

Morgan Freeman for Driving Miss Daisy - should have won Best Supporting Actor --Robbed!

Dennis Quaid for Wyatt Earp - should have won Best Supporting Actor --Robbed!

Russell Crowe for A Beautiful Mind - should have won Best Actor --Robbed! (I know I know, everyone thinks he behaved like a jerk that year; but the Oscars should be less about how affable you are in real life and more about what kind of job you did on-screen).

Like to know what you think!

Morgan Freeman has been robbed more than once. Glory with Matthew Broderick and Denzel Washington.

Denzel has been robbed, also, and ended up winning after playing a role he hated.

Yeah, Russell Crowe really deserved it for A Beautiful Mind. There was no better performance that year.

I think Winona Ryder got slapped the year that little girl (Anna Paquin) won for The Piano.

But there's no accounting for taste as they say. It's usually just a popularity contest. I hate that. People who have done legitimately well keep getting shafted. I don't watch Oscars anymore. Especially after the Titanic fiasco.

OK, Caseman is right about Pulp Fiction. Forrest Gump won that year, as I recall; a movie that yes, was about something that directly touched on pretty much every issue that had anything to do with anybody who was born before 1960 in the US. but let's face it, it's a pretty standard movie. don't get me wrong, I like it, I think it's a damn good movie, but Pulp Fiction made INNOVATIONS in the field. How many knockoffs of that movie were made? How much has that movie INFLUENCED modern film? I'd say, seriously, a whole lot. Ever heard of the movie, "How Green Was My Valley"? Ever heard of the movie "Citizen Kane"? That's what I thought. How Green Was My Valley slaughtered the Oscars the same year that Citizen Kane was up for every award that that film was, but which is more memorable? Which film cut through the red tape and made more creative innovations that are STILL used today? which film has withstood the test of time? That's what I thought. Word/

Quentin Tarantino - should have won best director and best picture for Pulp Fiction.

Sean Penn - should have won best actor for I am Sam.

Natalie Portman - should have won best supporting actress for Closer.

Robert Duvall - should have oh-so certainly won best supporting actor for Apocalypse Now. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."
