How do male actors avoid getting erections during sex scenes?

How do they keep from getting erect during sex scenes or make out scenes? If they're unavoidable, do they just ignore them?

They sometimes do get excited. They just keep going through the scene. Most say that with the lights, cameras, people, set, noise and other stuff that sex scenes are NOT at all romantic.



George C. Scott once said something to the effect: "Madame, if I get excited then forgive me. If I don't get excited then forgive me."

They can't unless they're gay men playing a straight character, actresses need to learn that men may have involuntary erections during a film, in any case a smart camera men will make sure the movie viewer wont notice it.

maybe they take cold showers or a pill that is opposite of getting one. or maybe they do something about it before the sex scene and they know they can't get excited when they do one. just guessing here.
