It was a good movie especially for the prequel to the 1978 movies. But can they do it again. I've been wondering what if they did the same thing to......Star Wars? Could they make it happen about how the world in a far far galaxy came to be like that. Answers plz.

I think the Planet of the Apes stories have run their course. There is no more backstory to create for a prequel and unless they plan on remaking the Planet of the Apes films (without Mark Wahlberg) I don't think we'll see any POTA movies any time soon.

I doubt that if a Star Wars film were to be made it would be yet another prequel. There are so many Star Wars novels with fresh content. The first novels contain events which occur 25,000 years before Episode IV: A New Hope and the later ones are stories of events long after Luke Skywalker and all the original characters have died.

I think the best idea would be to move forward with the story, if anything.

I will agree with Nick L about the Star Wars film series. I think the best thing for them to do (if they do it) for public relations and out of respect for the series would be to move on a and write fresh new stories. For the time being though, there does not seem to be any Star Wars movies on the horizon.

Which by the way is what they are doing with the Planet of the Apes prequels. Rise felt fresh because of the direction, the writing, and the performances. It felt current because of the subject matter that seemed slightly plausible. They wanted to create a grittier more realistic feel. They did the right amount of sendoffs to the originals (even the remake) and hints towards possible sequels to peak anyone's interest.

They plan to continue this with the next film, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. They have Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Informant!, and The Bourne Ultimatum) hired on to help write the screenplay. Andy Serkis is returning. Early reports say that they would like to do a sequel based a few years after Rise that explores the relationship (militaristically) between Caesar and Koba. A few other interesting ideas are in the works. It is set for release on May 23, 2014.

George Lucas also did a 3d version allready. since his cash will run out again I guess he needs to milk the cow a bit more and do a prequel or something!
