Harry Potter finds out on his 11th birthday that he is a wizard... but he isn't the only one who knew. The whole wizarding world knew his name from him just being a toddler. Why? Because he survived the killer curse from the most evil wizard ever! Harry goes to a wizarding school called Hogwarts, and learns Quiddich (the Wizard sport), spells, friendship and his life as time goes on. Despite all this good stuff, there is a professor that really doesn't like Harry... and that is Professor Snape! In the end, many secrets get unraveled, and the evil wizard Voldemort get's defeated.



In each film, there is a plot line, and for each film they are (in order)



- The Philosopher's Stone is kept hidden in Hogwarts

- The Chamber of Secrets is opened, and beholds a creature attacking students

- Sirius Black (Harry's godfather) escapes from the wizard prison (Azkaban) and many people believe he is after Harry's life.

- The Trizwizard Tournament is happening at Hogwarts. The Goblet of Fire determines who competes in the tournament and you must be over 17. However, somebody put Harry's name in, meaning he must take part in three dangerous tasks.

- Voldemort and his followers (Death Eaters) are better than ever, and so great wizards are starting the Order of the Phoenix to help stop them.

- Harry discovers a dark book, who belonged to the 'Half-Blood Prince'. Harry then learns about Voldemort's evil past.

- Harry and his friends (Ron and Hermoine) try to find and destroy Horcruxes - items which are part of Voldemort's soul - so that he'll be vulnerable to be killed.



The books and films are better than what they sound, which is why I think more people should watch and read them to really understand them fully :)

If you have never read or seen the films, then you are missing out on a fantastic story that takes you on a roller-coaster ride from your armchair.

You cannot help but take Harry and his friends to heart and just feel the need to cuddle and mother them all, yet the Baddies become your enemies too, you can't help but shout, cry, & laugh though all the books and films.

I would definitely recommend reading the books first as the films cannot cover the whole story and you would miss important facts.

Simply magical, they allow you to almost join Harry and the others on their journey you feel apart of it as so many of us have said Harry Potter has become part of our lives and it will never be over as long it's in our hearts. The movies bring the books alive, it's exciting because as your watching you'll see a scene or hear a line from one of the characters and you'll go ohh i remember that line in the book. The cast is amazing no one else could have played Harry Potter as well as Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as his faithful companions, Hermione and Ron.



It's incredible because when you watch the first few films you get an connection to the characters you feel for them when their lost, you want to help them and when a character dies you feel like your grieving for a person you've lost in the real world.



Harry Potter Truly is a magical adventure, it's taught us to believe anything is possible as long as we believe, The Golden Trio never gave up , and Harry always in dark times had some one by his side.



It's more than just a film or a book, you can relate to the characters and even though some are followers of the Dark Lord, you can feel for them as well, J.K Rowling wrote her books in such a way that she misleads us, particularly with Professor Snape, from the beginning watching Snape as a kid i was frightened of him as much as Ron was, because your seeing it from the view point of the characters you believe that he is bad, in a sense you don't see what's going on behind the scenes it's as if Harry, Ron and Hermione have turned up at a bad time.



Summing up all 7 Films in a few words would be difficult but i'd say again that it's magical, it's an adventure brought to life by the big screen sometimes it's hard to visualise what a particular scene may look like when reading the books but with the movies everyone gets the same image.



The movies are for everyone so many of us have growed up with them and we believe that the books and the movies should be showed to the next generation :) Harry Potter is never over!

No haven't watched them all. But when Harry was a baby does his mother and father cast a protective spell on him or something - that's why 'you know who' couldn't kill him or is the protective magic simply a parent's LOVE for a child? 'its in your skin Harry'



And is Professor Snape Harry's dad? Dumbledor says to Snape 'have you grown to like Harry' and Snape does a spell and i think the photos on the wall change then the shocked Dumbledor replies 'all this time'. Have i got the wrong end of the wand here?



Anyway the plot i think comes together beautifully at the end Harry being a hoarcrox* and Snape and Dumbledor secretly protecting him from the begining.



Its intelligence rather than power - but then you can say intelligence is a type of power. But you can't leave out character either - bravery, courage, friendship, and all of that.



So I mean it is no doubt fiction however what it comes down to are things we human beings feel and experience. there has to be a connection or else no it wouldn't work. Maybe not for the people who are easily taken by fantasies like me. I watch it coz of the dragon's and Hermione*

2. Dobby is introduced - a house elf - that constantlcauseses harry problems whilstryingng to keep him safe. - the chamber gets opened and children attacked who are not pure blood wizards. It turns out harry is a parselmouth(can speak to snakes - which voldermort & slytherin could have, the four houses at school are name d after the founder one of which was dodgy - slytherin. Harry gets into the chamber - meets a young voldermort - & Saves Ginny Weasly - (his best mates sister)

Turns out voldermort put cut his soul into pieces & could rise again - which explains how he almost came back in the 1st year.

With the help of Harry's friends Ron and Hermione, they went looking for all the horcruxes. They find a few and must destroy them, by using the sword of god rick griffindor, every time they destroyed a horcruxe, voldmort got weaker and weaker. In the last film, harry has to find the last 4 horcruxes, including 1, voldemorts snake. Harry destroys 3, but on the way, alot of harry's friends have died trying to save his life. Voldemort and his followers, the death-eaters all come to hogwarts and set it on fire, killing a lot of people. Harry has to destroy the snake to kill vodemort so he goes looking for the snake, but the snake is too strong, but it is eventually killed by a boy called nevil, a brave but strange person, who is almost in all the films. This destroys voldemort, and the wizarding world is safe at last from voldemort. :)



This is just the main characters, there is also, snape (an evil teacher, well, who you THINK is evil), dumbledore(the headteacher who helps harry all the way through but then gets killed by snape), draco (a boy the same age as harry, who gets put on the bad side with voldemort), ginny(a girl who harry marrys) and a lot more too :) you NEED to watch the films :) x

Employing all of their Defense skills, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna, and Neville have moderate success fighting the Death Eaters, but they are ultimately helped enormously by the arrival of several members of the Order. In the midst of the fight, Harry drops the glass sphere, and it shatters and Sirius' own cousin, Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange, kills Sirius. And on Sixth one harry found out that Severus Snape is the Half blood Prince and Dumbledore got murdered by Snape. On the Seventh and the Last Harry Potter book is the most exciting and the most interesting book and the film. On that one harry found all the horcruxes and he returned to Hogwarts with Ron and Hermione to destroy Voldemort and he gets the help of the Dumbledore's army. Harry Potter's mum and dad are killed when he's just 1 year old by evil wizard voldemort. Harry becomes a legend when he doesn't get killed by voldemort, and is left with a lightning bolt shaped scar. This makes voldemort weak. Harry gets taken to Hogwarts, learns spells etc., and meets 2 people named Hermione and Ron, along with others! After fighting trolls in bathrooms, finding the "philosopher's stone" - the "elixir of life" can be extracted from here - He soon discovers that a professor - professor quirrell - is voldemort, but he is still weak. The second book is an important one. Harry and his friends find a basilisk in "the chamber of secrets", and learn of Tom Riddle (aka voldemort) and a diary he has written. Ginny, ron's sister, had been reading it, and didn't know at the time that it was evil. Harry finally kills the basilisk using the sword of Gryffindor (Gryffindor is one of the 4 houses at Hogwarts, the one that Harry's in) and destroys the diary with a basilisk tooth and its venom.

The third and fourth book, the prisoner of azkaban and the goblet of fire, are about a man named sirius black (who turns out to be harry's godfather). Also, the dementors first appear here, who are guards at a prison named Azkaban (where sirius escaped from). They suck out their victims' soul, which is even worse than dying. Harry also learns a patronus spell to stop dementors. These creatures feature throughout the other books too. Also in book 3, harry meets a new teacher called Professor Lupin. They discover he is a werewolf.

In the fourth book, they compete in "the triwizard tournament", in which harry and a boy named cedric diggory take part along with contestants from other wizarding schools. At the end of the book, cedric dies and voldemort comes back to power after being weak in the previous books.

In the next 2 books, a woman named Delores Umbridge becomes headmistress (she is not a nice character), and Dumbledore dies after being killed by professor snape, a man who teaches at hogwarts and has done since book one. At the end of this book, they realise that voldemort has split his soul into seven objects, and to kill voldemort, you must destroy all 7 objects. Dumbledore leaves Harry with this seemingly impossible task of finding them all - and they are not easy to destroy either.

In the seventh book (part 1), Harry, Ron and Hermione search for Horcruxes (the objects voldemort split his soul into) and they realise that Horcruxes can only be destroyed by something that can't be cured (e.g., basilisk venom).

They soon learn that they have already destroyed some of these Horcruxes (or they're already been destroyed for them) One was a goblet, the other, Dumbledore's ring (which was destroyed when dumbledore died) and Harry destroyed one too - Tom Riddle's diary in book 2, by using the basilisk tooth.

Hermione find out that the sword of Gryffindor only takes in things which make it stronger, so they learn that they can destroy horcruxes with the sword as it was used to kill the basilisk.

Harry finds the sword in a frozen lake, and ron destroys another of the Horcruxes - Delores Umbridge's locket.

They also learn of the 3 deathly hallows: The elder wand - the most powerful wand ever made, the invisibility cloak (given to Harry in the first book) and the resurrection stone, which can bring dead people back to life.

At the end of the seventh film, voldemort breaks into dumbledore's tomb and steals the Elder wand from him, leaving he final mintues on a cliffhanger...

He kills and drinks the blood of a unicorn in the forest to help restore his body fully.

Quirrel tries to steal the Stone from its secret hiding place..

Harry, by his sheer innocence, prevents Voldemort from taking the stone. Quirrel disintegrates, Voldemort's spirit escapes.

Harry knows that Voldemort has sworn to kill him, but he is the only person who has the power to defeat him.

Over the series the events continue with new characters on both Harry and Voldemort's side. Voldemort grows stronger. Voldemort is Tom Riddle, an ex Hogwarts' pupil who has been corrupted by circumstances in his youth. Their two minds are linked!

Voldemort has returned and is gathering strength to form an army to defeat the good wizards and the human race ("muggles"), The official line of the Ministry of Magic, which liaises between wizards and humans, is to deny this.

Harry tries to make the Ministry aware of Voldemort's return. He is branded a liar. An oppressive, militant regime is introduced by the Ministry which makes the pupils of Hogwarts' lives unbearable. It is obvious that Voldemort has returned. The Ministry cannot deny it. The forces of Good and Evil prepare to face each other.

These "Horcruxes" take some finding. A fierce battle ensues with Draco and his cronies, Draco is trapped and threatened with death by magical fire. Harry saves him. Eventually all but one Horcrux, Nagini, a python that accompanies Voldemort, are destroyed.

Snape is fatally injured by Voldemort Harry learns that Snape was a double agent who had protected and prepared Harry due to his undying love for Harry's mother Lily. Dumbledore was already dying, but Draco was being forced into killing him. Killing Dumbledore would have given Voldemort power over Draco.

The final battle ensues at Hogwarts. Harry is called to meet Voldemort in the forest..

Harry knows he will be killed by Voldemort. He strikes Harry with a death spell.

He finds himself with Dumbledore.

Part of Voldemort's soul passed into Harry when his mother died. He was a living Horcrux.

Harry comes to in the arms of Hagrid who is being forced to take his body to Hogwarts.

Harry potter is a boy, a boy who can be the only one to defeat the darkest wizard, he who must not be named or Voldemort,of all time but goes through a lot of challenges, in his first yeah at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry he finds out that his Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is also Voldemort and he defeats him once again by destroying the Sorcerers Stone, in the second book he finds out about the chamber of secrets and finds out he is a parcel-mouth, or can speak to snakes, the defeats Lord Voldemort once again and also unknowingly destroys one of his Horcruxes ,obejects in witch a person hides part of their soul making them immortal or never dying) in the third book he finds out his who his Godfather is, Sirius Black , but at first believes he is a killer since he was put in Azkaban (wizard prison) for murder but finds out about Animagus's (people who can change their appearance willingly) in the fourth his Defense against the dark arts teacher is an impostor but no one knows, he is also put into The Triwizard Tournament (a wizard competition for school kids) underaged and once again meets with Voldemort who has come back stronger and reunited with his Death Eaters (followers of Voldemort) and he escapes without being completely harmed, in his 5th book he finds out about an organization The Order of the Phoenix created to defeat Voldemort, his Godfather Sirius Black is killed by his own couzin a death eater Bellatrix Lestrange ruining his hopes to have a family with him, he also finds out about the Prophecy which told why he had become "The Chosen One" or the only one who could defeat Voldemort, in the 6th book one of Harry's Teacher's Severus Snape is told to be The Half-Blood Prince and Albus Dumbledore (headmaster of hogwarts) explains to Harry about Horcruxes, and as they go on their hunt together to destroy one of the horcruxes Harry finds out the horcrux they had been going after was a fake, and Dumbledore returns weak and eventually is killed by Severus Snape, with whom he had planned his death, in the 7th (last one) book we find out a lot of secrets ,about the Deathly Hallows (three objects which when a person has them all makes one the master of death), Voldemort plans with his death eaters on how to finally kill Harry Potter, and Harry continues on his hunt to destroy voldemorts horcruxes with Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley (his best friends) there are a total of 7 horcruxes and 5 left for them to find and destroy (Harry destroyed one in the 2nd book and Dumbledore destroyed another) a lot of people die, loved ones and unknown ones and death eaters, Harry goes back to Hogwarts to fight with the rest of the students against Voldemort and his death eaters, we also find out that Severus Snape loved Lily Evans (Harry's mother) when they had been kids and died (killed by Voldemort) loving her, and that their friendship ended because Snape had called Lily a mudblood (very rude thing to call someone who is *muggle-born-muggleborn-muggles are people who cant do magic and muggleborn means you are the only witch or wizard in your family*) Harry destroys all but two horcruxes in the end, when he finds out that he himself is one, so he must be killed to destroy the piece of Voldemorts soul inside of him. Harry is killed but comes back because he only destroyed the horcrux and didnt really die, he still pretends to be dead to fool Voldemort, but take his chance and runs for it when he can, another friend of Harry's Neville Longbottom destoys another of the horcruxes and so in the end Harry kills Voldemort.

In the end Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger get married and have 2 kids Rose and Hugo Weasley

and Harry marries Ginny Weasley (sister of Ronald Weasley) and have 3 kids James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter and Lily Luna Potter

If I had to give advice to someone who hadn't watched or read Harry Potter, I would have to say STEER CLEAR OF THE FILMS! Especially from the Prisoner of Azkaban onwards!



The Philosipher's stone and the Chamber of Secrets are both very similar in book and film, but apart from that the books are superior in every way from the films.



The films miss so much out and add such nonsense in. The character of Mad Eye Moody looks completely different in my mind from the films, as does Voldemort and many of the other characters and settings.



If you watch the film, you are looking at the directors idea of Harry Potter. Read the books for yourselves and see what Harry and the rest of the wizarding world is like in your own mind. I'm not a big reader but Harry Potter isn't a book, it's a world you can enter.
