can someone please explain to me how the zombies new how to bait robert with the manachin? from what i could tell robert only went out in the day time and this was the only time we saw his relationship with the dummies..how did they know that using the dummy would get robert to fall into their trap.

When Will Smith set the trap for the zombies after he got his dog out of that building, the zombie stuck his head out and saw what it had done to his girlfriend and then copied it.

i think that the trap was set by him, i guess it was insinuating that he had forgot about it. because the trap was the same as the one he used earlier in the movie.

i gathered that they'd been watching him from their dark hideouts and saw that he interacted w the dummy. they are supposed to be humans, so maybe they still possessed tricky side that we have.
