This has probably been asked a lot but what's your thoughts on the "time-traveler" extra in that Chaplin movie?

In case you haven't heard about this yet...

I know a lot of people probably think this theory of a time-traveler is silly, but it's kind of fascinating too isn't it? She definitely seems to be holding something AND talking into it, so it probably wasn't a hearing aid. It was too small to be a radio. And there were no cell phone towers back then anyway.. I don't know. It's a mystery. I personally just love the idea that it's a time-traveler =P even though it probably isn't, but still, how on earth could she be using a cell phone back then?

Here is the video of the Irish filmmaker George Clarke talking about his theory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6a4T2tJaSU

And here's a video of the scene of the woman with the phone (I think it's from the behind-the-scenes feature from the premiere of the movie on the collection DVD):

So...your thoughts?

I love the idea of it being a time traveler too, although it's really far fetched.

But who knows, the 'time traveler' could be from a thousand years into the future, so maybe they have the technology that doesn't require cell phone towers.

Haha it's probably not a time traveler, but the idea alone is really intriguing!

the excuse for theres no towers in the 1920s if they can travel time im sure you can use a cellphone without a tower...anyways i doubt its a time traveler because if there were time travelers so many people would time travel and at least 1 person would come out and say there a time traveler and bring back all this cool stuff

There is a problem if it was a cell phone.

If a time traveler tried to use a cell phone in the 1920s it wouldn't work. There were no cell phone towers in 1920.

Oh, sorry! That was me. I downloaded the "Time Travel" app on the iPhone, and accidently sent myself back to the 1920s. Didn't believe it would actually work...

@ Erica: No, not a thousand years in the future. From the present. It was me!!! Well, technically, to the people in 1920, we are the future...but yeah...
